Otome Game Review: NORN9 -Norn + Nonette-

It’s the year 2015 and in 2060 there was World War 4. A shota named Suzuhara Sorata finds himself at a research lab facility that he’s visiting with his classmates for a special tour. Suddenly he starts trippin’ balls hearing some kind of music and seeing a ghost girl talk to him.  Before he knows it, he falls asleep and then finds himself awakened in year 1919! He thinks he’s jumped back in time to the taisho era and then he runs into a girl who can’t even remember her name. She’s babbling nonsense and suddenly a giant alien space ship comes down to them and takes them both on board. On the ship Sorata meets some kids who all have psychic powers and he finds out that they’re on a journey around the world until they reach their “destination” – which is supposedly America. The game then switches to the points of view of 3 heroines and their relationships with the other psychic power users there.. Anyway this intro makes no freaking sense so if you want to make sense of anything you’re gonna have to read some spoilers after the jump . As usual you can avoid spoilers and skip to my final thoughts instead!

Otome Game Review: Diamond no Kuni no Alice ~Wonderful Wonder World~

Our heroine Alice Liddell finds herself falling down as usual with Peter holding her in his arms. She tries to ask him wtf’s going on but he magically vanishes without saying a word and dumps her into the country of Diamonds. The country of Diamonds major areas are the Castle of Diamonds, The Hatter Mansion, The Train Station and the Graveyard & Art Museum (which are right next to each other.) Alice is now in a new country but unlike her previous move from Heart to Clover, nobody here remembers who she is – except for Nightmare. Suddenly characters like Nightmare and Ace are shotas, Dee & Dum are only in adult form and Vivaldi, Gowland and Pierce are missing in action. Additionally the castle of Diamonds is run by the queen of Diamonds, Crysta Snowpigeon and the new prime minister is now a black rabbit named Sidney Black. Over at the art museum & cemetery area is another mafia with a leader by the name of Jericho Bermuda who is a dodo bird. Alice has to figure out what the hell is going on and at the same time try to convince everyone to like her again. Unfortunately unlike the country of hearts, everyone’s feelings towards her are as cold as a frozen diamond.

Otome Game Review: Omochabako no Kuni no Alice

This is the 2nd Alice series fandisk after joker. The first half features some original stories with the usual cast in Wonderland, Joker inclusive so that means we still have seasons in various places. The 2nd half is a school parody where the cast of Alice is thrown into the Symphonia Magic Academy from QR’s first game Wizard & Master.  Alice transfers to the Symphonia Academy because her CHILDHOOD FRIEND Peter wants to go to the same school as her…and Alice is looking to get away from her sister out of jealousy, just like in the original story. Starting with this game, Quin Rose ditches the turn based system to give us a relaxed straight VN gameplay.

Otome Game Review: Joker no Kuni no Alice ~Wonderful Wonder World~

“April Season” has been bestowed on our beloved wonderland. It’s basically Wonderland being stuck in a timeloop that is April 1st aka April Fool’s. Despite being called April Season, all it means is the entire wonderland experiences different seasons based on location. Spring at the heart castle, autumn at the Hatter mansion, Winter at the Clover tower and Summer at the amusement park. This time Alice can’t visit those areas unless the Wonderland season overall matches with the season of that area. Not only that but now there’s an addition of a giant circus run by the Joker in the Door Forest since he’s the “fool” in April Fool’s. Beyond the circus lies the Joker’s prison in which lies the truth to Alice and the world from which she came from. The best part of course Julius and Gowland are back! 😀
