Otome Game Review: MIYAKO ~Tsukiyomi no Yume~

So a while back when I finished DCGS I was so pumped to hear Sanctuary had a new game coming out and then my hopes were crushed so hard when I found out it was to be a PSP only port! Fortunately they decided to be awesome and some years later they released it a PC port with an extra route! Best port ever! (´^ω^`) So our story starts when a girl finds herself summoned by an Onmiyouji who claims that she is his shikigami “created” to do his bidding. The girl has no recollection of who she is but she feels like she was a human and her name is Sayuki. Sadly her new master, Abeno Seimei, is pretty demanding and tells her that if she doesn’t accept her fate as a shikigami, she will disappear.  Seimei then brings her to Izumi at the capital to work, to do things like console quarraling married couples or deliver love letters. Unfortunately some of the jobs she has to do also require her to fight demons. Will she be able to get used to her new life as Shikigami #3? Skip to my final thoughts to avoid spoilers.

Otome Game Review: Tokyo Yamanote Boys -Super Mint-

So now that we’re done with the cotton candy aliens from Honey Milk, it’s time for Long Torso, Trap & Non-Rapist Yusa in Super Mint! The virus plot appears to remain the same…until Jesus comes along and kills the vaccine! Boom suddenly the vaccine plot is gone and Super Mint is now left to create a West Side story plotline to keep us entertained so that we don’t think this game is THAT shallow. Sadly, this doesn’t work, so I hope you like our choice of mans this time around or you’ll be bored to tears like I was. Continue reading “Otome Game Review: Tokyo Yamanote Boys -Super Mint-“

Otome Game Review: Sora*Yume

The story is about Mizunaga Satsuki whose parents run some antique item store. One day she finds a ring in the storage room and it turns into some caped dude with a sword through his chest. She pulls the sword out and then he tells her the reason he’s not bleeding is because he’s a demon. She hears this and passes out and hears various ikemans proposing their love to her. She wakes up thinking it was all a dream until she wakes up to the demon-man right in her face. Turns out she’s released the seal of the ring and now he’s looking for the Heliotrope ring and asks Satsuki to help him find & destroy it. The reason is because anyone who puts the ring on will get their wishes granted, but at the expense that the ring will devour their blood until it merges with their body & turns them into a hateful blood sucking vampire. As Satsuki searches for the ring with the help of her tsukaima, she starts to discover many things about herself and the people around her. Skip to my final thoughts to avoid spoilers! Anime Expo Otome Game Localizations

So I’m sure everyone’s heard it by now but for anyone who’s been under a rock:

So yea Hakuoki & Starry Sky have been picked up by USA publishers. My thoughts? Well I’m jealous that I can’t be working on these projects with them and getting paid for it! 😆 (not that it would ever happen seeing how I’m on the opposite end of the coast il||li_| ̄|○il||liガーン。 ) I’m not really that excited as I don’t think Starry Sky or Hakuoki franchises are ALL THAT GREAT. There’s a lot of better games (Cough TAKUYO cough) but for a foot into the otome market I think they made the right choice. Let’s face it, I still get a shit ton of hits daily on my starry sky in spring post and I get hits for Hakuoki in RUSSIAN. So needless to say, I think both games have a pretty big following despite what anyone may think and it will help earn revenue for both companies so that perhaps one day they can pick up better games for the English market.

Otome Game Review: Vitamin X to Z

So concluding my Vitamin Tour will be the fandisk for both Vitamin X AND Z! That’s right D3P decided to shove everyone together into one game and throw it on to the PSP! The good news is since both games have already been ported to the PSP this included adjusting some of the stand in pics for X as well as adding new ones in. The game came out this year so the artist has significantly leveled up and so the CGs were quite pleasant to look at. Best part of all – each guy’s route is only 4 chapters and *gasp* NO STUPID EXAMS! Yippie! The story takes place “in the middle” of the scenario of the original X & Z games but the endings then take place AFTER the endings of X&Z. Basically the gang of X go to a winter lodge for a week before new years while the Z gang then go visit the same vacation house in the summer along with GTR, Kagetora & Kamijou + the bears. Both Yuri & Manami are in イケメン heaven as they get to いちゃこら while enjoying a relaxing time in the hotsprings or going wild at the summer festival.
