Was thinking about the decade of otome games and realized I had written a post about the worst game systems I’ve sat through. Unfortunately I had not then written the complimentary BEST systems one so here we are! Generally my stance on systems is “if I can press auto-mode and read it like a book that’s all I need” but once in a while it’s nice to get something besides ye olde audio visual book and have some kind of fun interaction. Otome Game Review: Shiritsu Berubara Gakuen ~Rose of Versailles Re:Imagination~

Our heroine Yamada Oscar was given a weeb name by her otaku (and famous actress) mom whose favorite shoujo manga was Rose of Versailles. 😂 Like her mom, she’s also a huge otaku, but she likes a manga called RomaKoi where her favorite dude is Hikaru-sama who she has plastered all over her bedroom. She goes to a famous acting school but there’s a caste system where you have both the rich and the “normal” students attending. Needless to say there’s a huge divide between the two. Because Oscar is great at remembering lines after only reading them once, she gets scouted to join a newly formed acting club called Lumiere. Lumiere was formed by Maki Nozomi, a former member of another theatre group called Soleil. The teacher who leads Soleil, keeps trying to sabotage Lumiere so it’s up to Oscar, and Lumiere to ward off the attempts and win the upcoming acting competition to prove they are a real club who can stand out on their own.

Otome Game Review: Variable Barricade

Toujou Hibari is an ojousama and the heir to the Toujou group. She’s 17 years old but her grandpa is saying that the relatives are rushing to get her politically married. Since grandpa loves his grand-daughter, he wants her to marry ~for love~ so he specially picks out 4 guys for her to live with in a temporary house so she can pick the one to marry. Unfortunately her options are a marriage swindler, a gambling addict, a loan machine and well a male prostitute. All of them are unemployed bums and now Hibari is in living hell with them, along with her trusty long time butler Kasuga. However, as Hibari spends more time with these guys, there is more to them than meets the eye.
