Guest Review: Taisho Alice: Tokyo Drift

As I mentioned before, I grabbed all the rest of the Taisho Alice games when they got released before the Steam Summer sale. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut then we got sidetracked by Real Games For Real Gamers (TM) for the last few months (and trying to finish up our final prep before the upcoming FFXIV expansion) so this game has been sitting in limbo since then. Anyway, like I keep mentioning each one of these releases covers another set of storylines, this time for Snow White and Wizard and since this game is like 5 years old now I’ll spoil away.

Otome Game Review: Kimi wa Yukima ni Koinegau

Our heroine Suzuno comes from the Hakuseki clan who has been demised many years ago. As the last survivor she’s been living alone in this shrine for years because her parents are deceased and the villagers kinda scared her off in there because of her powers. Suzuno has the ability to see people’s emotions by seeing the color of the “strings” around their necks. Because of this humans got terrified of her and would call her a monster leading her to a life of solitude. One day a group of oniwaban (the guards for the current shogun) come to get Suzuno out of the shrine and bring her to Edo. The current Toguwawa shogun Yoshimune is in need of her powers in order to eradicate the evil spirits, “yoika” who have been plaguing Edo for years. Finally finding a place where her powers will be of use, Suzuno joins the oniwaban – which is full of kikos – “human shaped” golems created out of Shikigami who have special powers to defeat evil spirits. Anyway spoilers ahead so jump to my final thoughts to avoid as usual.

Guest Review: Code Realize ~Future Blessings~

Soooooooooo remember a year ago when I got that Code Realize bundle of the main game and first fandisc? Yeah, I uh forgot as well which is why it took me so long to play it and review it. But you-know-who got mad that I was spending so much time cheevo hunting in FFXIV and this would simply not do, so yet again I was exiled to the bedroom to grind this out over the course of a few evenings…and also spoiler warning I eventually gave up at one point and started force skipping.

Guest Review: 2 Taisho 2 Alice

Soooooooooo, it’s summertime, and you know what that means: Steam sales! The rest of the Taisho Alice games all got released in pretty rapid fashion so I picked them all up at the discounted rate. Again, as before they’re releasing these games in four parts, so this one just covers Gretel and Kaguya (plus the short prologue with Katakana Alice, of course) and therefore still doesn’t cover any of the overarching metanarrative just yet.

Otome Game Review: Lover Pretend

After being in limbo for several years post announcement, Otomate decided to bring this game back from the dead with a seemingly completely new staff. Unfortunately it did not go as planned and frankly did not go as I had imagined. So keep in mind the fact that I thought this game was terrible and boring which is why it took me a month and a half to slog through it while constantly taking breaks to play other games. Our heroine, Chiyuki wants to be a script writer like her deceased mother but she has no idea who her father ever was. However, her mother left her clues that he was one of the actors in the famous drama script her mother wrote called “Pretend to Love”. Now in her 3rd year in college, Chiyuki has a chance to do some assistant work with a movie and she meets the children of the actors who were in Pretend to Love. In addition she’s now also cast as the love interest of all the guys and like with her mom’s drama is a “pretend lover” with them. With this Chiyuki hopes to find a clue on who her father might actually be.
