Bright Shadow Weekly Update 3/17

Nice grand cross.
Nice grand cross.

This week Bright Shadow adds yet another lottery item. At least this one doesn’t make you look like Jane of the Jungle. One of the other lottery items is a new mount. I’m assuming it will be speed +60 like all cash lottery mounts are. Also they introduced a new system (which is actually a pretty major update). It appears to be some sort of mentor system where players level 40+ can choose to be a “mentor” for a noobie and then help them level up. Basically this will give some sorts of bonuses to the noob in addition to attack bonuses when they do combos if I understand correctly.

Also it seems they have updated a few skills but my kanji reading skills are pretty useless for this so other than the fact that most updates are for mages, I have no idea what the changes are. All I understand is they adjust I think either the effect length of time or the cast time for a few mage/wizard/taoist skills. Some gunner skills have been adjusted too but I’m unfamiliar with gunner skills so I can’t comment. Finally prizes for some login event have all been given out. Too bad this event was in February when I was wasting my life playing Ichigaya Silver over & over in Megaten. 🙄

Bright Shadow Game Notes & Gripes

bsnotesSince there’s really no English resource anywhere for Bright Shadow I guess my blog will have to be it for now. (Hopefully one day some company will pick this game up but who knows maybe it’s too expensive??) While playing BS for the past 2 weeks I learned a lot of new things and game mechanics which I figured I’d share instead of trying to explain them to you guys in game in the little chat box 😕

Bright Shadow Weekly Update 3/10

Aw come on the design is hideous
Aw come on the design is hideous

This week’s BS update is another lottery update. I don’t do the lottery thing anymore but I do enjoy looking at the screenshots to see what the new designs are. I do think this time they are quite hideous. It’s not the China Dress that I dislike per say, but it’s the gold & brown design that makes me want to puke rainbows.

What really bothers me is the “other” items that you can win are things that only last for x amount of days. Like “panda doll” weapon, only lasts 30 days. Come on really? I also noticed items like “Wing of Phoenix” which is used to resurrect the dead as well as scrolls that move you to St. Meteor or St. Ryu (or whaever it’s called). This confirms my suspicions that there are no “return to home point” items in this game in addition to no “resurrect” items that can be bought/obtained by normal non cash shop means.  This is probably the “worst” thing that I’ve seen in this game and since the fields are all pretty close together, and there are teleporters to multiple areas.

Bright Shadow: Basic Interface

bsint01So in an ongoing attempt to get more non Japanese speaking friends to play I bring you – the interface! This won’t translate quests for you, but don’t be lazy and use the JP wiki along with Jim Breen like the rest of us! 😆

Anyway the first part of the interface above is pretty self explanatory. You got your red HP and blue MP bar. The yellow is the earned exp bar. The “SP” bar is part of the whole Bright Shadow system. You need SP to use attacks, but you can also convert it to HP or MP. In addition you need it to feed your pets or they will return to egg status. The expel/leave commands are for your party members. Once the purple balls on the right of your status thingy fill up, you can use the Bright Shadow icon thing which will basically increase your walking speed as well as attack and defense for a short period of time. This gauge increases as you fight monsters.

Bright Shadow English Guild

LOL @ my outfit.
LOL @ my outfit.

Ok so I managed to finally reach level 25 which was the minimum requirement for making a guild XD. So I’ve made the “newest” active English Bright Shadow guild called ☆英語☆. If you’d like to join you can always apply at any Guild person in towns or just message me in game (猫カフェ) for an invite. 🙂 The game’s been fun for the past couple days and thanks to quests we leveled super fast and managed to get decent equipment. I’ve somewhat figured out the way to get the pet, but when JP & I tried to do that quest we got owned by level 25 books. (Had to kill 175 of them in an hour to pass x_X;) I do want to try doing some of the lower level ones though in order to get that tiger mount (which I think at this time is the only mount you can get that isn’t a cash shop item.)

I may post some kind of basic interface guide if anyone is actually interested in playing this game. So far it’s just been me, JP and Alex but would be great if anyone else could play with us.
