This is the fandisk that follows the first game but trying my new otome game review format, I will keep the review spoiler free (although it may have references to the first game)! The review will just be my thoughts on all the routes. Please note this will contain CGs posted on the official site.
After Story
Zafora – Zafora irritated me once again because just like the last game he won’t say his feelings to Tifalia (and says them to her when she’s sleeping???) When she tries to help him out with his town stuff, he tells her it’s none of her business and prohibits her from doing research on her own as well. It’s like we’re just back to the first game and he had 0 character growth. She came all the way to this town for him and he’s just like “durr don’t do anything I don’t approve of just live in my Uguu mansion of love” like some weird emotional confinement. เฒ _เฒ It’s only after Vilio and Lian finally talk some sense into him that he opens up and starts to communicate with her. The route was mostly frustrating and when he finally told her his feelings ~end credits play~. (ใยด_ใ`)
Pashalia – Fortunately unlike Zafora, Paschalia didn’t go back to his old emo self in fact he remained canonical to his “I’m openly horny now” ending in the first game. ( อกยฐ อส อกยฐ) He was much better character here than in the first game so I definitely enjoyed his route a lot more this time around. And of course horny Pashalia means Tifa gets laid. ( อกยฐ อส อกยฐ) My only disappointment is there was again too much focus on the random fairy plot and I wish I had more time to spend with Pashalia romantically other than just a couple scenes.
Ion – Ion started out great like Pashalia but then again derailed by plot about taking ownership of that horrible coliseum like WUT. Why though. เฒ _เฒ It also involved babysitting bratty children in his hometown so needless to say, another potentially great route ruined for me. I mean they’re reopening the abuse coliseum…why?? Why is everyone ok with this lmao. I know it’s common theme to forgive the enemies in Japanese media but maaaan I can’t stand it.
Radie – Uh for some reason Radie and Tifa got married in the space between the last game and this game and we just saw a flashback which kinda made it anticlimatic? But I guess it’s interesting to see the route from a post-marriage POV as opposed to how most of the others were ending on the wedding. It’s not a common thing to see but I guess I kinda prefer this because it’s refreshing over the usual courtship plots. They also actually for once the plot here was relevant to the entire circus theme instead of whatever side plot the other characters had going on in their route. Unfortunately all the cute Radie scenes were as usual cut off by the circus story (and they even brought in the crap from Ion’s route sigh) that I once again got bored midway and then it ended.
Vilio – Once again, I’m sounding like a broken record, but the entire route with romance /fluff derailed by poor pacing focusing on side characters halfway at the start and finally in the middle focusing on how Vilio and Tifalia feel about her new powers/life span.. The entire thing ended up being all about friendship bonds rather than romance focus on Vilio but what else is new. (ใยด_ใ`) It honestly felt like one of those “grand finale” routes effectively makingย it seem like Vilio never actually got a route period.
Another Story
Liyan – Liyan confirmed in his route that despite acting like a manwhore, Fenrirs are actually very loyal to their lovers. ๐ Unexpected angry brother plot but eh it was okay, at least it focused on Liyan and his family rather than rando side characters. Ironically it was much better than all the main guy routes in the after story and had some really cute scenes (like the one above). The only thing that had me เฒ _เฒ was that Liyan fell in love at first sight with Tifa when she came to his cafe..at like age 12 or something. WTF ๐ Also Liyan’s bro reminded me of one of those incels who gets rejected by 1 woman and is like “all women are thots!!” ๐๐
Jinnia – Tifa is working as Jinnia’s secretary and one day she walks in on Jinnia coming out of the shower. The shock is so strong she starts avoiding spending time with him and he gets upset and confused. But yea apparently the whole time Jinnia knew her feelings and teased her but now he’s like “damn I went too far oops.” The entire route is basically Jinnia going “sorry it’s not you, it’s me ๐ฅบ”. But in the end it all worked out and it was super cute. I loved meeting his parents ๐๐. The ending was absolutely amazing, honestly this ended up being my favorite route in the FD.
Alest & Colivus – While these two do not have official “routes” they just had short little endings. I never saw Alest as a love interest cause of his obsession with Colivus so his ending was just ??? to me. And Colivus well….shota end, that’s all I need to say. เฒ _เฒ They could have literally done a route with him as an adult and it would have been great but nope. We got babysitting end. เฒ _เฒ
When you complete all the endings, there’s also a short “epilogue” circus related scenario that unlocks as well. The epilogue though is just a couple dialogue lines, the credits rolling and unlocking the “3P” Cgs with various characters (which were gorgeous if you ignore the fact that they kept Colivus in his shota mode ugh.)
Interlude
This was just a bunch of little short scenes between all the characters. Nothing particularly stood out to me about this section unless you specifically just want to spend time with certain characters. It wasn’t romance themed at all, just banter between all the characters and Tifalia was mostly not there. There was also no CGs in this section.
Damn that was so incredibly disappointing.๐ All the routes were approximately 2.5 hours long and aside Liyan and Jinnia, they were mostly wasted on throwaway plot instead of cute fluff between the characters. Only Jinnia and Liyan felt like they were truly “fandisk” romance material. That’s not to say there weren’t cute scenes, but they were few and far between and when it felt like it was finally getting good – the credits rolled. The worst was Vilio by far – his route just felt like kind of a “grand finale” for the entire game rather than an FD route for him. เฒ _เฒ Despite the routes being so short, the main cast felt so draggy I couldn’t even bother to marathon this in one sitting and I could only do about 1 route per day. When going through the CG gallery to save them, I realized like man all of the CGs are really cute out of context, but the writing and pacing of all the routes made it so boring I didn’t even care at the time.
Otomate charging full price for this is absolutely absurd. If you REALLY liked the first game and just want to see the characters again, this might be enjoyable for you but honestly, I had forgotten most of what happened in Radiant Tale when I began this game. It wasn’t particularly a bad game, just wasn’t that memorable to me so when they didn’t focus on the romance as much as I wanted, I was just bored to tears. If you’re like me, but want to at least get it for Jinnia and Liyan, I suggest waiting for some kind of discount sale. ๐ฉ
