Infinity Nikki Version 1.5: The Burning Dumpster Fire that Descended Upon Miraland

Infold, you dun’ goofed bad.

So I haven’t posted about Infinity Nikki since I’m running out of blog space but I’ve been an active player since the game dropped. There have been frustrations with the game (like some of those Curio Whim Star puzzles and a few platform puzzles) but overall I enjoyed playing. I never felt like I HAD to spend money to progress anything and most of the gacha outfits were there for silly abilities or just looks. Unfortunately all of this changed when a week ago Infold decided to drop 1.5 on everyone like the atomic bomb and basically destroy everything that made Nikki a great game.

Let’s start with the bugs. They pushed out this weird Sea of Stars update but it’s the buggiest untested shit I’ve ever seen in a live service game. I mean up until now there may have been a bug here and there but there are MULTITUDE of game breaking bugs that I’ve run into just a week of playing. I’ve been clipping them from my stream and uploading to Youtube because there’s just SO MANY. Clipping into walls, falling through the ground, having random animals attach themselves to my character…wtf is going on? It’s like absolutely nobody tested this because you would run into these bugs in seconds. The biggest amount of bugs happen to be on the Sea of Stars map – the map they added the new co-op feature too.

The co-op feature btw is completely broken. I couldn’t even take a photo with a friend in game, let alone do the animation with the gacha prop I had gotten. So basically co-op ruined and broke the game and it should have been some kind of beta test opt-in for now. Releasing it as is, untested and completely broken while messing up existing game systems was a really bad PR move.

In addition to this, people began exploiting various bugs in the game such as getting extra stars in Sea of Stars dailies or floating further than normal with the new bird floating outfit….which made Infold take stars away from people and put them in the negative. After the backlash they gave a few stars back to people and un-nerfed (?) the bird outfit but I think the damage has been done to people’s enthusiasm. Some people exploited the bug on purpose, but most people just did the dailies as usual thinking it was absolutely normal. I definitely had one day where I did the dailies twice thinking “oh maybe I just forgot to do it yesterday?” I guess because mine was only 1 day of “mistake” I was not put into the negative.

The next absolutely jarring thing that they did was completely retcon the entire intro of the game. For some reason instead of Nikki going on a graduation trip and ending isekaied into Miraland, she’s now thrown into some desolate end of world reset by what people suspect is “future Nikki who’s done a lot of hard livin” who has been resetting worlds that were destroyed – including the one that all of us prior to 1.5 experienced. The biggest WTF is basically characters like Ena and Giovanni are just fragments of another timeline that Nikki never actually really met. W T F. I was hoping Giovanni would come back to us but Infold really did go and erase him. (ノಥ益ಥ）ノ︵ ┻━┻

The other main concerns are the greedyness from Love & Deepspace has seeped into Nikki. I was wondering why Nikki was always so generous feeling while LADS was highway robbery. I guess the management got mad that Nikki wasn’t making remotely as much as LADS so they went a step further and added an extra piece to the 5 star gacha outfits. That means now that the minimum pity to get a full outfit is 220 pulls and to get all the recolors would be 440. Ridiculous. Ironically enough I already got 1 recolor of the mermaid outfit simply because the evolution you get earlier than the actual outfit! It took me 200 rolls! Luckily this was all saved gacha tickets and currency because no way in hell am I going to give them any money for releasing a broken retconned update.

Because I can’t laugh after my surgery this picture was physically painful to look at 🤣🤣🤣😭😭

Anyway it’s been a week now and only radio silence from Infold. They had a half assed apology, which really didn’t resolve anything. They’ve been fixing bugs on the back end but it feels like when they fix some, more new ones pop up. The unofficial Nikki subreddit has been posting a variety of boycotts/girlcotts while the official Discord and Reddit have been erasing any signs of protesting – though some complaints have remained up. The Chinese fans on RedNote are starting a huge flame war from what people have been posting and many of them genuinely upset as a lot of them have been long time Nikki fans since Love Nikki came out. Up until now Infold seemed to take surveys to heart and really improve the game but everything was just completely destroyed in the 1.5 update to the point that they have a very low rating on Google Play and Steam from all the negative reviews. Will they be able to dig themselves out of this hole? Only time will tell.
